Today we started out our day at a local market to buy rice, beans, sugar, and oil to take to an orphanage outside of Moshi. At the orphanage we distributed small toys to all of the children (beanie babies and toy trucks), headbands for the girls, and candy. We also provided them with 50 books for their library, along with a large bag of multivitamins. The kids sang for us, and we had some time to play and take lots of photos. We enjoyed a small meal prepared for us before leaving to head to the Ndoro Waterfall.
On the way, we had a surprise stop for pizza at a small cafe in Moshi. It was delicious!
Next, we headed to the waterfall. The hike down was quite an adventure, but so worth the effort. It was beautiful! The waterfall was very powerful today and we all had a ton of fun wading in the water. The hike back to the top was quite the workout, I did not envy the guides who make that trek about 5 times every day!
After leaving the waterfall we made a short trip to the Chaggas caves. There we learned about the elaborate underground village the Chaggas people created in the 1700's to protect themselves from violent lowland tribes. It was very interesting!
We ended the night with a delicious dinner back at the hotel & will prepare to head back to Kenya tomorrow. Tanzania has been wonderful!
